Europe Ryder Cup captain Darren Clarke says Rory McIlroy's victory at the Tour Championship was "great to see" ahead of this week's tournament at Hazeltine.

The World No 3 will be part of the team who will be looking to win the event for a fourth time in a row, for the first time ever.

Clarke confirmed his line-up four weeks ago, while counterpart Davis Love III only just named his final wild card overnight.

While that final choice has come quite late on, Clarke believes Love has done his homework in the build-up.

"I have been thinking about things along with the other vice-captains and we've been working on numerous things, and I'm sure Davis has done as much preparation as he can as well," he said.

Clarke also told Sky Sports News that his preparations are even costing him sleep.

"I've gone into every little bit of detail. I've had my own thoughts about what way I want to do things, waking up in the middle of the night with ideas and writing them down - some of them good, some of them bad. But I do have a big OCD and an attention to detail is going to be huge," he said.
