The 29-year-old won the SmackDown title at the Backlash event
The Irish invasion of the WWE is continuing.
Weeks after Finn Balor became the first WWE Universal Champion, Dublin-born Becky Lynch won the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship on Sunday night at the Backlash event in Virginia.
Lynch (aka Rebecca Quin) joined the WWE in 2013, and was promoted to the main roster last year. Along with Balor and former WWE Champion Sheamus, the trio form the core of the Irish athletes competing in the company.
The 29-year-old won the title by beating five other Superstars in a six-pack elimination challenge.
Formerly a student in DIT, and a flight attendent with Aer Lingus, Lynch has been wrestling since she was a teenager, before eventually moving to America in 2013.
She spoke to the WWE's website after her historic triumph.
