WATCH: Olympic hero Paul O'Donovan wins gold in the World Rowing Championships

He follows up his silver medal at the Olympics with a convincing win in Rotterdam

Olympic silver medalist Paul O'Donovan has won gold in the World Rowing Championships this morning in Rotterdam.

The Skibbereen native finished first in the final of the lightweight single sculls in the Netherlands this morning, less than two weeks just two weeks after success in Rio where he finished second in the lightweight double sculls with his brother, Gary.

O'Donovan pulled away in the final 500m of the race to win comfortably in the end and cap a remarkable month for the Cork native.

He finished ahead of Hungary's Peter Galambos and Lukas Babac of Slovakia.
