He opened his Boys in Green account against Malta
It's an international career that has yielded an outstanding 67 goals and we have to go back almost 18 years to see Robbie Keane's first goal for Ireland.
Or goals to be more precise!
The striker, who will call time on his Boys in Green career on August 31st against Oman, had made his Ireland senior debut against Czech Republic in March 1998.
And it was just over six months later on October 14th, on his fifth cap, that he first found the net (twice on the night) in the green jersey when Malta were in Dublin for a Euro 2000 qualifier.
