BBC Four's Olympic coverage has been gaining a cult following over the past fortnight.

Presenter Dan Walker has been based in a studio on the Copacabana beach and has had to regularly deal with Rio's refuse collectors late night collections during his show. At one point, Walker even welcomed a Brazilian bride-to-be on air as her hen party was walking past the beach studio.

On Thursday night, viewer began to notice a couple lying down on the beach, a short distance away from the BBC studio. Walker was quick to clarify that the couple were only "reading a book" despite the viewers having other ideas.

The popular presenter was quick to clarify on Twitter, that the viewers were not viewing what they thought, they may have been. Even after the watershed, that would have been a historic moment on the BBC.

The famous American actor WC Fields famously said that televison of film producers should "never work with animals or children."  Maybe the Rio residents around the Copacabana in the evenings can be added to that list.
