Annalise Murphy was the highlight
Annalise Murphy enhanced her hopes of a medal after the fifth day of action at Rio 2016.
As she builds towards the medal race in the Women's Laser Radial, the Irish sailor is now top of the standings after the first six races at this year's Olympic sailing event.
Four more races remain ahead of the pivotal medal race but Thursday is a rest day for Murphy and her competitors.
In the men's race, Finn Lynch remains just outside the Top 20 overall.
However, the rowing competitions which were due to feature Claire Lambe and Sinead Jennings, as well as Paul and Gary O’Donovan were cancelled due to weather conditions.
In the pool, Fiona Doyle finished second in her 200 metre breaststroke heat but her time did not push into the qualification spots for a place in the semi-finals.
The final Irish athlete in action was boxer Joe Ward but he lost his light heavyweight bout to Carlos Andres Mina by split decision.
