Joe Ward has become the third of Ireland's boxers to exit the Rio Games this week after losing to Ecuador's Carlos Andres Mina.

In a scrappy light heavyweight contest, Mina was awarded the fight by split decision as Ward also received two public warnings.

Ward edged the first round with two of the three judges awarding it in his favour.

But in a scrappy bout, Mina was judged to have edged the second with two judges going the Ecuadorian's way.

And the third was also awarded in Mina's favour as 22-year-old Ward exited following David Oliver Joyce's defeat on Tuesday and Paddy Barnes on Monday.
