The Australian Olympic team have decided to postpone moving into the Olympic Village, on account of problems regarding the sanitation and safety standards of the accommodation.

Problems including 'blocked toilets, leaking pipes and exposed wiring,' have prompted the team to abstain from moving in to the Village.

Kitty Chiller, the head of the country's delegation, says that she brought her concerns to the International Olympic Committee on a daily basis, and was 'pushing hard for a solution.'

Australia were scheduled to move into the Village on July 21 but have since diverted to nearby hotels. It's believed that over 1,000 cleaners were drafted in to correct the issues.

Chiller says that they will reassess the situation later today and that alternative accommodation is being arranged for additional athletes coming in the next three days.
