Graeme McDowell carded a one under par 71 to finish best of the Irish at the AAM Scottish Open this afternoon.

The Co. Antrim native completed four rounds under par and total of nine under par guaranteed him a top ten finish for the competition.

"Yeah I'm really happy with the way things are kind of trending," he told Nick Dye after his final round today.

"I hit the ball really well this weekend especially, I hit all the shots today. I just wasn't tight enough around the greens this weekend and I think my putting let me down. Tee to green I couldn't really fault the way I was playing the first 15 or 16 holes.

"I hit a lot of good shots and gave myself a lot of opportunities. Sometimes when you've gone though difficult conditions like Thursday and Friday, to benign conditions when you know you should be scoring. It's tough to make that mental adjustment. I don't think I did that well this weekend.

"I'm still really, really happy with how I'm progressing and looking forward to taking some good form into next week."

Padraig Harrington, meanwhile, was another good Irish performer at Castle Stuart Golf Links and finished on six under par, just outside the top 20.

Alex Noren was crowned champion after converting his 54 hole lead and wins just his fifth title on the European Tour.

American Patrick Reed finished alongside McDowell on nine under par and as is the topic of the day, he was asked whether or not he would be competing at the Olympics in the wake of Dustin Johnson's withdrawal.

"We're playing, I look forward to going over and representing my country," he said.

"I don't think there was any doubts [over his participation], but rather clarifications. I wasn't in any of the meetings because I was always on the outside. Now that I'm on the inside, I was able to talk to the right people and figure out everything that's going on."
