Former Clare star Jamesie O'Connor feels the front door route of reaching the Munster final and avoiding the qualifier route is vital for Davy Fitzgerald's side going forward with an All-Ireland tilt as a possibility.

He joined Off The Ball tonight ahead of a third big match this year between the Banner and Waterford after a draw and replay win for Clare in the Allianz Hurling League final.

Sunday's game will put one of the two teams into the Munster final, while the semi-final loser will have to go through the qualifier route.

"It's particularly important for Clare to get the victory on Sunday. I still think Clare are capable of rebounding and coming through the qualifiers. They've too much talent not to but certainly in terms of where this team want to go and where they want to get to, a Munster final is very much on their radar," he said, adding that the Clare team appear to be in a "good place".
