Brian O'Driscoll feels that it would be brilliant for Irish rugby if Connacht were to go on and win the Pro12 to cap off a remarkable season for the province.

The former Leinster was feels that a win for the Westerners could see a changing in the guard in Irish rugby, although he still holds Leinster as marginal favourites.

Previewing the game with Ger Gilroy and Off the Ball today, O'Driscoll feels that the Western province have nothing to lose as they ready themselves for their first ever final appearance in the Pro12.

"I think it is a free shot, there isn't a huge amount of pressure on them (Connacht)," he said.

"I don't sense they're going to be rabbits in the headlights. I don't think they're going to freeze. I think we will still see a lot of the same stuff we have this season and its going to be a brilliant final.

"I say this with my neutral hat on, it would be brilliant for Irish rugby if Connacht won.

"It would be brilliant if we change things up because you don't want the same winners year after year.

"Its a brilliant story and I hope they build on it and it would be easier to build on it if they win it."

Despite seeing the possible benefits from a Connacht victory, O'Driscoll feels that Leinster just have enough to get home and win a fifth domestic title.

"Off the back of last week's Leinster are favourites, but marginal favourites. There is very little (between them)," he added.

"This Connacht team are not going to lie down and you can see massive belief in them in what they're doing.

"They've been in pressurized games in the last two weeks, and they've any questions that have been asked of them.

"I think it will be a very, very close game but I do give Leinster the slightest edge."
