He will link up with the squad when he returns from Euro 2016
Roy Carroll says he's "delighted" to have signed for Linfield, after the club announced the signing of the former Manchester United goalkeeper on a one-year deal.
Carroll, who has also enjoyed spells at Derby County, Olympiacos and West Ham United, will link up with the Belfast side after the European Championships.
"I'm delighted to be able to advise our supporters that Roy Carroll has signed a one year deal as a player to take effect from June 1," Linfield boss David Healy told the club's official website.
"He's obviously a player I know very well and he will bring with him considerable experience which will be of enormous benefit to the goalkeepers in our squad and indeed our entire squad.
"I'm looking forward to working with him once his international commitments are concluded in the coming weeks."
Linfiled, Northern Ireland’s most successful club, finished second in the table to Crusaders last season and are aiming to end a five-year wait for a NIFL Premiership title.
