Reports claim he wants ex-Liverpool captain to become his assistant
Brendan Rodgers hopes to persuade former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard to become his assistant at Celtic according to reports.
Former Liverpool boss Rodgers joined the Scottish champions on a 12-month rolling contract to replace Ronny Deila.
And according to The Sun, he wants Gerrard in a player-coach role.
The tabloid claims that Rodgers would like the Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder to become part of his coaching staff as an assistant.
Gerrard (35) has previously hinted that he could retire at some point in 2016 and is believed to be interested in going into coaching when he ends his playing career.
