Bundee Aki has won Connacht's Player of the Season award after an outstanding season for the province.

The centre (26) won the award which was voted on by his fellow team mates at last night's annual Connacht Rugby Awards Gala in Galway.

Aki, who also took home the supporters' award, has been instrumental as Connacht reached the Guinness Pro 12 playoffs for the first time, setting up a home playoff semi-final with Glasgow Warriors.

"While it's very humbling to receive these awards, I'm definitely collecting them on behalf of the whole team. It's been a phenomenal season and it's fantastic to see that all the hard work from absolutely everyone since day one of pre-season has paid off to get us to where we are now," he said.

"To receive an award from the Connacht fans is awesome. Since I arrived here two years ago they have been incredible and we really appreciate their support of the team, especially the way they create that special atmosphere at the Sportsground that we love."
