Pat Lam's side secure their first Pro12 semi-final despite a one-point loss to Treviso
Connacht have secured a Pro12 semi-final berth despite a final minute defeat to Treviso at the Stadio Monigo.
Pat Lam's side struggled to assert their dominance in the latter stage of the game after tries from Rory Parata and Fionn Carr inside the opening 14 minutes eased the Irish province ahead.
Connacht failed to capitalise on penalties they earned and went in at the break just 14-12 ahead, tries from Luca Morisi and Jayden Hayward dragged Treviso back into the game.
After the home side earned a penalty try to give them the lead, Peter Robb broke through for Connacht to give them what appeared to be the game winning try.
But with moments to go, Connacht's discipline failed them and a last minute penalty from Hayward earned the home side a well deserved victory.
