Two early goals gave Cork City victory tonight and piled more pressure on Shamrock Rovers.

The 2-0 win pushed Cork up to third, while Pat Fenlon's Rovers stay sixth in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division.

The home side got on the scoreboard inside the opening minute when Steven Beattie scored after racing onto Greg Bolger's long pass.

And the home side doubled their lead in the 13th minute when Karl Sheppard fired home a rebound.
