David Oliver Joyce has suffered a unanimous decision loss against Joseph Cordina during their men's lightweight 60kg semi-final bout.

Joyce, who would have secured a spot at this summer's Olympic Games, will have another chance to book his spot in Rio but he will have to beat win a box off.

Current European champion Cordina had lost to Joyce on two occasions four years ago.

Joyce was on the canvas twice during the contest, but appeared to dominate the final round before all three judges scored the contest in favour of Crodina, 29-28.
