Fred Couples is the latest former champion to miss this year's Masters at Augusta.

The American has announced that he will not be able to take his place in this year's field due to back problems.

The 56-year-old has played at Augusta National 31 times and this will be the first time he has missed the tournament since 1994.

His only major victory came at August back in 1992 when he won by two strokes.

Last weekend, former World No 1 Tiger Woods also announced that he was not going to be able to compete this week as he continues his recovery from injury.
