The United States international will leave Connacht at the end of the season
Connacht out-half, AJ MacGinty, will leave the province to join Sale Sharks at the end of the season.
MacGinty is set to take over the Sale number 10 shirt, vacated by Danny Cipriani this summer as he returns to his former club Wasps.
"I am very excited to be joining Sale Sharks next season. They are a club with great ambitions, and I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead" said MacGinty.
"I have really enjoyed my time at Connacht and would like to thank all the coaches, players, fans and staff for their support. In particular, I would like to express my gratitude to Pat Lam and I look forward to finishing the season as strong as possible."
Sale rugby director Steve Diamond told the club's official website: "We were alerted to AJ during the World Cup, and we have been watching his performances at Connacht."
"He is great in defence and has an 80% success-rate kicking his points.
"I am sure that when he works with Paul Deacon he will become the finished article.
"He will be a great addition to the squad, and we are looking forward to AJ joining us pre-season."
Dublin-born MacGinty joined Connacht in October but his "quota spot" will be taken by South African fly-half Marnitz Boshoff from next season.
Diamond told BBC Sport: "Connacht coach Pat Lam and I had a chat about things - under Irish rugby regulations you can't have two foreign players in the same position," Diamond added.
"He played for USA at the World Cup and although he's got an Irish passport he can't play for the national team so they can't contract him beyond this year."
