The 10 year-old was back to his very best this afternoon
Sprinter Sacre completed the fairytale comeback to capture the Champion Chase this afternoon ahead of heavy antepost favourite, Un De Sceaux.
After a season plagued by injury in 2015, there was no doubt that Sprinter was back to his scintillating best to streak ahead of the field and finish seven lengths clear of Un De Sceaux.
Special Tiara began strongly, leading the chasing pack alongside Un De Sceaux. There was furstration for Colm Murphy-trained Sizing Granite who, despite a calm start, struggled over the first fence and was subsequently pulled up.
With Un De Sceaux really beginning to show his class, he moved up alongside Special Tiara and a good turn of foot put him in position to enter the last three fences strongly.
Sprinter was always in contention, however, and the 10 year-old seized his opportunity by catching the pair between the third last and second last.
