MK Dons footballer Samir Carruthers has apologised after being pictured urinating into a beer glass at the Cheltenham Festival.

Photos showed the former Ireland underage player with Northampton's on-loan striker James Collins and Bristol City defender Luke Ayling, whose clubs are also investigating the incident.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Carruthers says he's "embarrassed everyone".

"I'm sorry to everyone, my family, the club, chairman, the gaffer. I've not been raised to do something like that. I've let everyone down and I have to take the criticism. It was a silly mistake and I just have to take everything that comes with it," he said.
