Manchester City's win in Kiev broke an unwanted Premier League record

They were the first English team to win a Champions League first leg since 2012

Manchester City's 3-1 win over Dynamo Kiev un Ukraine on Wednesday night was the first time a Premier League team won the first leg of a Champions League knockout game since 2012.

On the way to winning the Champions League in 2012, Chelsea defeated Barcelona 1-0 in the first leg of their semi-final in Stamford Bridge. From that game in London, to City's win in Kiev, Premier League sides had not won a first leg at 14 times of asking.
