Unfortunately for a player with such abundant talent, Abou Diaby's name has become a by-word for injury prone players.

Ever since he fell victim to a tackle from ex-Sunderland player Dan Smith while at Arsenal, he has never been able to recover fully.

The resulting fractured ankle led to a host of later muscular injuries and ultimately he left Arsenal in the summer with his Gunners career unfulfilled, even though manager Arsene Wenger admirably stood by him for so long.

Now at Ligue 1 side Marseille, he has yet to play for the club since signing in the summer due to an injury sustained in training.

But after 506 days since his last appearance, he is due to take part in Marseille's upcoming Coupe de France clash against Trelissac tomorrow.

One chart from October 2014 shows how much he had suffered injury-wise up to that date and not including injuries in the interim period.

And despite his many injury problems, the 29-year-old did manage to pick up 16 French caps and played at the 2010 World Cup.
