Ireland got their Six Nations defence off to a perfect start as they brushed aside the Welsh challenge at Donnybrook on Saturday afternoon.

Tries from Sene Naoupu and Sophie Spene put Ireland into a 15-3 lead before captain Niamh Briggs tacked on another two penalties.

Naoupu's opening try electrified the crowd at Donnybrook, as her searing break set Ieland on their way.

Sophie Spence then drove over from close range following good work from the pack.

Next up is France in Perpignan next Saturday night.
