Amir Khan has announced that he will fight Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez in Las Vegas on May 7th.

Alvarez is the WBC middleweight world champion, and that means the British fighter will have to step up in weight to take on the Mexican.

It also seems to put an end to the prospect of the massive domestic clash for Khan with British WBA welterweight world champion Kell Brook, for the time being.

The Bolton native, who has a record of 31 wins and three defeats as a professional, has won his last five fights.

His most recent victory was a unanimous decision against Chris Algieri last May.
