After 10 All-Ireland in 11 years under former manager Eamon Ryan, the Cork ladies football team new era did not get off to the best of starts this weekend.

Up against Mayo in their league opener, the Munster side lost to their rivals for the first time in nine years in a 2-8 to 0-7 scoreline.

As Cork star Briege Corkery admitted "Mayo had bells on to beat us and that’s exactly what they did. They gave us a good hiding".
