Swansea City have picked up a vital win by beating Watford 1-0 in tonight's only game in the Barclays Premier League.

Swans captain and centre-back Ashley Williams got the opening goal when he powered home a header in the 28th minute to give the home side a deserved lead at the Liberty Stadium.

Swansea needed a win tonight in order to climb above Newcastle and move out of the relegation zone, which they duly achieved.

The result is especially significant as the club welcomed new head coach Francesco Guidolin to the Liberty Stadium as they look to secure survival between now and May.
