Roma have re-appointed Luciano Spalletti as manager after this week's sacking of Rudi Garcia.

The Serie A giants, who face Real Madrid in the Champions League last-16, parted ways with Frenchman Garcia after an indifferent first half to the season which has left them 5th, seven points behind leaders Napoli.

Garcia had led Roma to two runner-up finishes in the past two seasons, although the last campaign was a distant second to champions Juventus.

Spalletti won the Coppa Italia twice during his previous spell at Roma between 2005 and 2009, while also leading the Giallorossi to three second place finishes in the league.

The 56-year-old Italian has since managed Zenit St Petersburg to two Russian Premier League titles and won cup until his departure in 2014.
