Player joins from Swansea in multi-million deal
Newcastle United have confirmed the signing of England international Jonjo Shelvey.
The former Liverpool and Charlton Athletic player moves to St James Park in a £12 million deal.
"I'm very excited to be here. I'm so glad that it's finally done," said Shelvey.
"I drove up through the night to be here so it's been a manic 24 hours but it's all been worth it to come here and play for this great club."
The player joined Swansea in 2013 after a three year spell at Liverpool where he scored two Premier League goals in 47 games.
He did make headlines however for this touchline argument with then-Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson after he was sent off in a clash in September 2012.
The 23-year-old also has six England caps to his name since making his debut in 2012.
Shelvey is Newcastle's second big January signing after the arrival of Senegalese striker Henri Saivet last night.
