Liverpool manager is adamant about what is more important tonight
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has emphasised the importance of points on the table over stylistic plaudits as he takes his side to face Sunderland tonight.
The Merseyside club are 10th in the Premier League, eight points off fourth, as they prepare to take on a Sunderland side who languish second from bottom at the Stadium of Light tonight.
Speaking ahead of the game, Klopp had one message for his team against Sam Allardyce's men.
"We have to play against Sunderland and we don't want to go over there and show how football should be. We go there and go to win," he said.
"That's the only reason why we travel there and that's what we have to show. There's no reason to doubt. We want to develop, we want to get more points in this very, very important moment in the league. [There are] so many points in January and you should try to take each [one] that you can."
Liverpool beat second placed Leicester City, who were top at the time, in their last outing at Anfield.
