The incident happened at a race in Italy

Television coverage of sporting events has improved dramatically in recent years with the birth of new technology.

Drone cameras have brought audiences views that they could only previously dream of as the home audience gets closer than ever to the action. Last night, a drone camera almost brought audiences closer to the action than they could have ever expected.

World Cup champion Marcel Hirscher was almost hit by a falling drone during a Slalom race in Italy. The Austrian was completing his second run at Madonna di Campiglio.

Somehow, the Austrian managed to complete his run and finished in second place.
