David Moyes has been issued a £30,000 fine for an offensive remark he made to a female reporter, in which he said she could 'get a slap.'

The former Sunderland boss made the comment to the BBC's Vicki Sparks following a Premier League game against Burnley in March.

Sparks asked Moyes if having the club owner Ellis Short present at the game added more pressure on him with his club was facing relegation.

After the interview was finished, Moyes said:

"It was getting a wee bit naughty at the end there so just watch yourself. You still might get a slap, even though you're a woman. Careful the next time you come in."

Moyes, who resigned from his position in May, contacted Sparks to apologise for his behaviour.

He also made a public apology for his comments at a press conference. He explained that his actions were 'in the heat of the moment' and said 'it's certainly not the person I am and I accept it was a mistake.'
