The 3Arena in Dublin has updated its security policies ahead of Tuesday night's Shawn Mendes concert.

The new measures come a week after the attack on the Manchester Arena, with management at the Dublin venue saying concert-goers can expect to "queue for over an hour".

In an update on their website, venue officials say that backpacks and large purses or bags will not be allowed.

Attendees can also expect a "full body pat down search and/or metal detector search" before gaining access.

The update adds: "Pocket contents will need to be completely emptied and viewed during the search process. We encourage patrons to minimize jackets and additional layers when possible."

The Dublin concert by 18-year-old Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes has already sold out.

Doors for the concert open at 6.30pm, with Mendes expected to start at 8.30pm.

Concert organisers warn: "We will do our utmost to get everyone into the venue before 8.30pm - however please arrive as close to 6.30pm as possible."

The 3Arena has a capacity of between 9,000 (fully seated) and 13,000 (fully standing).
