Evening top 5: Final FG debate; murder inquiry after NI shooting

The final Fine Gael leadership debate has finished after a feisty clash between Simon Coveney and Leo Varadkar.

Mr Varadkar came out swinging, accusing Mr Coveney of having a broad vision without achieving results.

He was booed by sections of the crowd at points.

And Simon Coveney said Leo Varadkar was only planning to look after certain sections of society

Police in the North have launched a murder inquiry after a man died following a shooting in Co Down.

The 55 year old was fatally injured in a supermarket car park in Bangor this afternoon.

The victim was brought to Ulster Hospital in a critical condition but later passed away from his injuries.

Another man's been arrested by British police investigating the suicide bombing at the Manchester Arena.

The 19-year-old was detained by armed officers in a raid in Gorton - it follows the arrest of a 25-year-old in Old Trafford earlier.

There have been two further searches at properties across the city - in Moss Side and Rusholme.

Thirteen men are in now custody as the investigation continues into the deadly attack - which killed 22 and injured dozens more.

The owner of the shop in Dublin who sold Friday's winning Daily Million ticket has announced he is donating his €5,000 seller’s commission to the charity Pieta House.

It proved to be a winning weekend, as another lucky Dublin ticket holder won Saturday’s mega €4.5 million Lotto Jackpot.

Seamus Griffin, of the Griffin Group which owns 13 Londis stores in the Dublin region, was in Kerry on Friday night preparing to do a fund-raising walk up Carrantuohill on Saturday with 165 Londis retailers in aid of Pieta House when he got a call to say he had sold the winning Daily Million ticket.
