A 17-year-old man has died in a single vehicle fatal road traffic crash in Meath.

Gardaí at Ballivor the incident, which happened at Port Lester at around 7.15pm Friday evening.

The 17-year-old male driver was the only occupant of the car.

He was fatally injured when the car he was driving collided with a fence. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

This stretch of road has been closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators - and local diversions are in place.
