An Irish citizen has died in Morocco.

The Department of Foreign Affairs say they are aware of the case.

They say they stand ready to provide consular assistance, if requested.

The department is liaising with the Irish embassy in Madrid, as there is no embassy in Morocco.

Back in April, the Department of Foreign Affairs advised Irish citizens to "be extremely vigilant" in the country.
