Revenue officers at Dublin Airport have seized 8kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of €160,000.

The cannabis was discovered with the assistance of detector dog Scooby in a shipment from Spain.

Revenue say investigations are continuing with a view to a prosecution.

This is the second seizure by Revenue in the capital today.

Officers earlier confiscated 7,000 contraband cigarettes in the Finglas area of the city.

The smuggled cigarettes - branded 'Rothmans' and 'L&M' - were seized during a routine operation.

Revenue say the two parcels originated in Greece.
