There is to be a stark contrast in temperatures across Europe this week, with a jet stream bringing warmer air to Ireland.

It will see a clear boundary between warmer air - over Ireland and parts of Scotland - and colder air for the rest of the UK, France and Germany.

Temperatures are set to be 5 to 10° Celsius above average for this time of year.

The outlook sees a lot of dry weather from Wednesday, with temperatures reaching up to 15°.

Thursday will bring more dry weather and top temperatures of 12 to 15°.

Munster and south Leinster will see the best of the weather - while there will be some cloud over Ulster, north Connacht and parts of north Leinster.

Friday will be dry in most places with just a few light showers, especially over Ulster.

We will see highs of just 10 to 15°, with the best over southern coastal counties.

Friday night will bring some patchy drizzle and turn much colder.

Met Éireann says there will be lows of zero to +4°, with some frost in rural areas on Saturday.

But the weekend will be mainly dry and fresh, with some sunny spells at times and cloudy periods also.

Top temperatures will be between 10 to 14°, but the nights will be colder.

Get out the summer gear while you can...
