One person arrested after "bomb-like device" found in Norway

Police in Norway say a "bomb-like device" has been found in central Oslo.

One person has been arrested and is being held in custody.

A large area has been cordoned off following the security alert, reports say.

 

3 killed, 4 injured as house collapses in Poland

Three people have been killed and four have been injured after an apartment collapsed in western Poland. 

According to local authorities, rescuers are still working to account for five others that are missing.

The search and rescue operation is expected to continue through to Sunday, according to Regional Governor Pawel Hreniak.

 

No sign of missing crew members in Rescue 116 search

The RNLI have said there's still no sign of the missing Rescue 116 crewmen Ciarán Smith and Paul Ormsby, after one of the largest sea searches ever undertaken in the history of the state.

Up to 120 fishing vessels from Arranmore in Donegal to Achill Island joined the search for Paul Ormbsby and Ciarán Smith.

The helicopter crashed over three weeks ago off the Mayo coast.

 

Man dies following fatal collision in Meath

A man has died following a fatal road traffic collision on the R162 Navan to Kingscourt Road at 1.20pm this afternoon.

The driver and sole occupant of one car, a 19 year old man, received serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman and two children travelling in a second car were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

 

Good Friday alcohol ban to be lifted

The 90-year-old ban on the supply of alcohol on Good Friday is set to be lifted by the Government. 

Tánaiste Frances Fitzgerald is expected not to oppose a Bill in the Seanad calling for the restriction to be abolished.

The change is likely to come into effect for Good Friday next year in 2018.
