Two arrested in connection with serious assault in Finglas

A man in his forties received serious head injuries during an attempted robbery at a newsagent on Fitzmaurice road in Finglas on Saturday morning

Gardaí have arrested two men in connection with a serious assault during an attempted robbery in Dublin.

A man in his forties received serious head injuries during an attempted robbery at a newsagent on Fitzmaurice road in Finglas on Saturday morning.

Two men entered the shop at around 8.15am and allegedly assaulted the man - before fleeing the scene empty-handed in what is believed to be a white-coloured 'saloon-type' car. 

Gardaí said two men in their twenties were arrested in the Finglas area this morning and are being detained at Finglas and Blanchardstown Garda stations.
