Police in France say an avalanche in the Alps has killed a Dutch snowboarder.

Two skiiers are also missing after yesterday's sudden downrush of snow in Valfrejus, near the Italian border.

Associated Press reports that around 60 rescuers as well as rescue dogs are involved in the continuing search operation.

Poor weather conditions have slowed down the search, and the risk of further snow slides remains high.

Another avalanche struck at the popular resort of Tignes yesterday morning, but no casualties were reported.
