Directed by his son Luke, the short sets the scene for Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus' sequel
While Prometheus may not have had fans chests bursting open with excitement, Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant still promises to be one of the most intriguing releases of the summer, and in the build up to its debut, a new five-minute prologue has just been released.
Named Prologue: Last Supper, the short shows the soon-to-be-doomed crew of a spaceship in happier times, pairing off in romantic couples and enjoying some last-minute fun before cryosleep and the inevitable xenomorphic heartburn.
Featuring performances from James Franco, Danny McBride, Michael Fassbender, and Ripley rip-off Katherine Waterson, the clip also calls to mind the classic dinner table scene starring the late John Hurt, as an incident in the mess hall nearly incapacitates one of the diners.
Due for release on May 19th, expect gore and guts aplenty when the latest chapter in the long-running franchise finally gets here. Take a look at the prologue in full below:
