Garda whistleblower welcomes expanded inquiry terms

Garda whistleblower Keith Harrison has welcomed the announcement that the inquiry into the Maurice McCabe controversy will also investigate allegations of ill-treatment of other whistleblowers.

The terms of reference for the Charleton Inquiry were agreed in the Dáil today.

Priority will be given to allegations against Sergeant McCabe, with an interim report to be provided within three months. Other whistleblowers will be looked at later.

Enda Kenny's comments came amid demands from his own TDs to give a timetable of when he intends to step down as party leader.

Donald Trump has announced he will introduce an executive action next week to 'comprehensively protect our country'.

In a lengthy and lively press conference today, President Trump said: "Parts of our necessary and constitutional actions were blocked by judges' - in my opinion - incorrect and unsafe ruling."

President Trump also launched a lengthy attack on the media, claiming recent leaks from Washington are "absolutely real but the news is fake".

Earth has a hidden continent

Geologists have discovered a new continent in the southwest Pacific Ocean.

The 4.9mkm2 region of is made up of continental crust and elevated relative to its surroundings.
