Gardaí in Co Kildare say they have seized drugs worth €344,000.

The seizure came after officers with the Naas Traffic Corps conducted a checkpoint at Curragh Farm in Kildare town yesterday evening.

A car was stopped at the checkpoint for no tax and no insurance.

During a search of the car, Gardaí discovered 6.5kg of MDMA worth an estimated €325,000.

A 'large quantity' of Zanax tablets worth €19,000 were also seized.

A man in his late 30s and a woman in her early 30s were arrested today in the Naas area, and are being held at Naas Garda Station.
