Wednesday's weather: Mostly dry, but wind warning in place

Today

Today will be a windy day with strong and gusty southerly winds, which will reach gale force along exposed Atlantic coasts.

Most of the country will continue dry.

However, patchy rain in the west will turn more persistent as the day goes and may turn heavy on higher ground in the southwest. Highest temperatures will range from 9 to 11 degrees.

Tonight

The rain in the southwest will turn light and patchy and it will become dry almost everywhere tonight.

It will continue windy though in strong southeast winds and ongoing gales on west and southwest coasts. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 7 degrees.

Weather warning

There is a status yellow wind warning in place for coastal counties.

Southerly winds will reach average speeds in excess of 46 km/h during Wednesday. Strongest winds will be at coasts and will peak in the evening.

Southeast winds will reach speeds in excess of 56 km/h during Thursday - with strongest winds at coasts.
