The four-star hotel on the shores of Lough Eske near Donegal Town also took home the title of best hotel in Ireland
Harvey's Point hotel in Donegal has been named one of the top ten hotels in Europe by ratings website Tripadvisor.
The four-star hotel on the shores of Lough Eske near Donegal Town also took the title of best hotel in Ireland - for the fifth year in a row.
Hotel director Deirdre McGlone credited the award to the hotel’s “dedicated team, each of whom play their part in the Harvey’s Point success story.”
"Words can hardly express the excitement and delight that we feel, having won No. 1 Hotel in Ireland on TripAdvisor for the fifth year in a row,” she said.
She expressed the hotel management’s “heartfelt thanks to our many guests who wrote so favourably of their experiences at Harvey’s Point.”
“We are immensely proud of this great achievement, which encourages us to raise the bar even higher in delivering the highest possible standards of hotel-keeping and hospitality.”
The hotel also came top of the pile in the 'Best Service' category and came in second for 'Romance.'
Castlewood House in Dingle was voted Ireland's most romantic hotel.
According to Tripadvisor, the awards aim to highlight the world’s most outstanding properties, with winners chosen based on the millions of reviews and opinions submitted to the travel website by hotel guests.
“Unlike other hospitality awards, these are based on feedback from actual guests over the past year - which is what makes them so prized within the industry,” said Tripadvisor spokesperson, Hayley Coleman.
“Travellers wishing to experience these world class hotels for themselves will need to book quickly if they want to find out why they earned such rave reviews throughout the year from fellow travellers.”
Mayo’s Ashford Castle was voted the second best hotel in Ireland with The Merrion Hotel in Dublin finishing out the top three.
