Four people were killed and 25 injured after a bus crash took place in central France in the early hours of Sunday morning. Three of those injured, including a two-year-old child, are said to be in a serious condition.

The bus crashed on the Central Europe Atlantic Road in the Saone-et-Loire region. The bus was on its way to Switzerland from Portugal when the crash took place.

Authorities previously reported that five died in the crash, but rescue workers were able to resuscitate one of the passengers, according to local authorities.

It’s thought that the crash may have been due to the ice on the road, the RN79 has a reputation for being dangerous. After the crash the authorities in the region warned motorists not use the road because of the treacherous conditions.

Investigating reporter Karine Malara said the road was dangerous "It was very icy, The weather conditions were very bad this morning."

Over 70 emergency workers were sent to the scene of the accident between the towns of Paray-le-Monial and Macon early this morning.
