With their fans are still reeling after the sudden deaths of the two Hollywood stars within days of each other, the first trailer for Bright Lights, a documentary about Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher has just been released.

Star Wars star and writer Carrie Fisher passed away on December 27th after suffering a heart attack on a flight, while her Singing in the Rain-starring mother Reynolds succumbed to a stroke the following day. The pair’s family and friends will say goodbye to them at a joint private ceremony this week.

HBO has now brought forward the premiere date for the Bright Lights documentary about the duo’s mother-and-daughter bond, exploring their close relationship as next-door neighbours in Hollywood, as well as their personal battles with mental health issues, depression, fame, ageing, and supporting themselves during financial upheaval.

The documentary debuted at last year’s Cannes Film Festival, described by critics as a “bittersweet pleasure.”
