An woman has died in a housefire in Dublin.

The blaze is understood to have taken hold in Cabra in the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services remain at the scene.

Turkey's Prime Minister says investigators are following a definite line of inquiry into an attack on an Istanbul night club.

39 people were killed in the New Year's attack, while dozens more were injured.

President Michael D Higgins has offered the deepest sympathy and solidarity of the Irish people to Turkey in the wake of the attack.

The mother of Pogues singer Shane MacGowan has died in a car crash in Tipperary.

88-year-old Therese MacGowan lost her life when her car hit a wall at Ballintogher, near Silvermines at around 3pm yesterday afternoon.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and her remains removed to University Hospital Limerick where a post mortem is due to be carried out.
