A man has been arrested in connection with the abduction and disappearance of Charles Brooke Pickard 25 years ago.

Charles Brooke Pickard (43) disappeared from White Strand at Castlecove, Co Kerry on 26th of April 1991.

He was driven away in a van by a number of men and has not been seen since. He had a wife and four young children.

In September, a search and excavation operation took place at a remote forest some 20 kilometres from Waterville, less than a kilometre away from where his van was found burned out in May 1991.

A man in his 60s was arrested yesterday evening in connection with the investigation and is being detained at Killarney Garda Station.

Gardaí renewed their appeal for information earlier this year, saying "relationships, friendships, associations and loyalties may have changed and people may be in a better position to help us now".

Anyone with information can be contacted at Killarney Garda Station (064) 6631222 or any Garda station, while Crimestoppers are also offering a reward for any information which may assist the investigation.
